Isn’t the whole point of sarcasm supposed to be that you have to be smart enough to pick up that it’s sarcasm?

sarcasm is irony for people who don’t know how to be subtle

Sarcasm by its very definition is the use of irony. A mark or font or specific way of writing to clearly convey when they are being sarcastic is for people who don’t know how to be subtle (or don’t wish to be).
